During the hours before + after school, The Wright Spot offers a variety of different interactive classes that engage children of all levels, interests, and abilities.

Art and mixed media, dance, drama, fitness, and educational enrichment classes are available and facilitated by childhood professionals in an inclusive and supportive environment. Children are able to develop social relationships that foster their sense of belonging and well being, and are continually stimulated through a variety of experiences that contribute to the healthy development of the whole child. 

Morning + afternoon classes run throughout the school year, following the TDSB calendar. Children ages 4+ are welcome to participate in any or all of these classes.

Active Movement + Motor Skills

Open Gym

4+, Monday-Friday, 3:45pm-4:45pm

Get your muscles moving as part of Open Gym! Children have fun while staying active by engaging in large and small group games facilitated by our staff, or by simply enjoying the freedom of bouncing a ball around, jumping through hula hoops, or participating in an obstacle course. Develop positive relationships with peers, work with others as a cohesive team, and keep large muscles moving.

Movement + Dance

4+, Tuesday, 4:45pm-5:45pm

Shake your sillies out in our Movement + Dance program! Keep energy levels high by taking part in freeze dance, using instruments to accompany movement, and learning simple yoga poses. Physical and sensory experiences assist in enhancing learning in multiple areas of development, including cognition and literacy skills. As a result, children will refine a variety of skills during this class, including directional abilities, spatial awareness, and balancing. 

Multi-Sport

4+, Thursday,4:45pm-5:45pm

Build upon physical skills as part of our Multi-Sport program. This active and engaging program encompasses a variety of different group activities, and introduces children to basic sport and physical fitness skills. Children will engage in simple volleyball, basketball, hockey, and soccer games, as their skills increase each week.

Lego Club

4+, Monday-Thursday, 7:30am-8:30am  /  Friday, 7:30am-8:30am & 4:45pm-5:45pm

Invite your mastermind builders to put their skills to the test as a member of our Lego Club! Using every kind of Lego imaginable, children will have the opportunity to utilize their creativity and imaginative skills while building upon their fine motor development as they design a variety of different structures and settings. Children will develop spatial intelligence as they piece together towers, vehicles, and anything else that they wish to create. Lego Club allows all children involved to work with each other collaboratively, express their thoughts and ideas, and become innovative thinkers.

Little Builders

Whether it’s building the tallest tower or making the coolest castle, children will be actively engaged in problem solving as they utilize their critical thinking skills as part of Little Builders. Planning and organization are key components of this program as children work individually or as part of a group to begin the sequential process of creating something based on an idea.

 


Creativity

Arts + Crafts

4+, Monday-Friday, 4:45pm-5:45pm

Join us for Arts + Crafts to express and refine your creativity! This program is designed to support children as they experiment with various art materials and determine what is of interest to them. Children are encouraged to create and design pieces that are most meaningful to them, and that best represent their thoughts, ideas, and feelings. Collaborative and independent work skills will be further refined as children create individual or group pieces, socialize with their peers, and share their creations.

Painting

4+, Monday - Friday, 3:45pm-4:45pm

Fluid creativity, self-expression, and individual representation are all terms that define the Painting program. Children have the freedom to make choices about their work, and will enjoy watching their wildest ideas come to life in front of them. Your little artists in the making will have the chance to experiment with different art techniques as they create using watercolours, pastels, stencils, everyday objects, and even parts of their body, to produce something special!

Specialty Crafts

Create unique pieces of art as a participant in Specialty Crafts! Children will contribute ideas in addition to pre-planned experiences, as well as refine creativity, increase fine motor abilities, and practice problem solving skills. Craft projects will encourage children to be focused and engaged as they work with materials such as paper mache, clay, beads, and fabrics.

Jewellery Making

4+, Tuesday, 3:45pm-4:45pm

Create, decorate, and wear your very own jewellery! Personalize necklaces, rings, bracelets, and pins using a variety of materials. Children will be given the opportunity to practice lacing, stringing beads, following patterns, and understanding step-by-step instructions.


Drama + Performance

Glee Club

4+, Friday, 3:45pm-4:45pm

All voices come together in Glee Club! Children sing and dance to their favourite songs in this program, and simultaneously make lasting friendships and connections with others. Glee Club supports self-expression, aids in the development of confidence and independence, and allows all members to have fun together as a group.
